Giselle Dekel

Meet

An artist, illustrator, and mother of five (husband included), Giselle sees the world through humor, creativity, and resilience.

Born in Vienna and raised in Antwerp, Giselle’s childhood was filled with beer, fries, and chocolate—flavors as rich as the art she would one day create. She studied at De Kunsthumaniora in Antwerp but found her true passion for illustration after moving to Israel in her 20s. With a degree in textile design from Shenkar College, she eventually embraced illustration, crafting witty, insightful works that spark conversation and reflection.

With her signature mix of humor and depth, Giselle’s art connects people through the everyday struggles of life—because, as she puts it, “let’s face it… life can suck.”

As a European, she once felt disconnected from Israel, but the war changed that. “Since the war, I feel a strong connection to Israel and its people. I’ve lost some non-Jewish friends (good riddance), but I feel stronger ties to the Jewish faith.” This experience reinforced her belief in unity.

Through it all, Giselle keeps creating, hoping her art brings not just laughter but a sense of being seen—because even in uncertain times, art remains a bridge worth building.

Giselle is an illustrator whose witty, insightful art connects people through humor, resilience, and the shared struggles of life.

“The only chance the Jewish people have is to work together and accept each other unconditionally.”
